right, that was also what I meant when asking for the rules:
- does everyone start and we compare after some turns and then continue with the best or do we play in a given order?
I had been wondering about that as well. I also usually prefer protective leaders on war-heavy maps, but in this case, with all the water/islands, I guess Ragnar is the best choice.how do we get 18 AIs on a small map ? Does it mean every AI has only space for 3-4 citities ?
I think we have no choice but to go Mining --> BronzeWorking --> Sailing. After that, we may have some disagreements.
BTW, I noticed Epic speed was selected in Snaaty's screen shot. I guess that gives us a lot more turns to make up for some disadvantages. Or was that an accident Snaaty?![]()

Since we are already 5-6 confirmde players, we can start right now i guess.
My 2 cents on the start:
we have 0 production. this is some problem
this is AW, so we need a religion. how do we get it? Mono should be doable i think, since this is real AW and the ai should be researching warfare techs also. The first 2 relis we wont get i guess cause with 18 civs some mystic starters will be around and even with aw they will go for it...
techs:
we have 2 choices i guess:
mining-bronze-sailing-religion
religion-mining-bronze-sailing
build:
we have 2 choices here also:
workboat
worker (both take 23 turns)
researching mining bronze takes 31 to 40 turns depending on what we work
mhh, what could be more useful:
workboat with max speed
or max econemy
Workboat should be faster than 23 rounds:
7 turns until KE --> (45-14)/3=11
11+7=18
foot: 7*2+11*1=25
(33-25)/5=3 --> 21 turns for pop2 in this variation
never played a start like that
what should our worker do after clearing one wood

after some more thinking (and remembering that this is epic spee), i would go for max. production and the workboat. you are right btw. after the first borderpop, we can work the wine and we will gain another 2-3 turns on the wb. if we already start to whip now, we will reduce our happycap without the need of doing so and cant grow our capital enough to do 2pop 2 whips later (settler + galley). manually producint the wb is also faster, so we can make up for the beakers lost by working more tiles later (with the fish, we can grow fast)
so the basic idea for the start would be:
1. build a wb and work the grassforest
2. research mining
3 work the plainswineforest after the first borderpop to speed up the wg
4 research bronze after mining to be able to whip
-> something else:
we have exactly 2 landtiles in our bfc. 1 of them is wine, so how big are the chances we have bronze / horses on the second landtile?
-> we might consider to squeeze in archery i want to hint with this (remember that some AIs start with more boni then others, including 4 archers and might come pretty fast with a galley to visit us)
The chance is very low, but after wineforests everything is possible![]()

since the game already is up and enough players confirmed (welcome back auron) here´s our roster.
i filled in the players in the order they joined the game and put obs and me last into the order:

i want to play this game at a decent speed, so i think 2 days discussing each turn and a maximum of 2 days more for executing the turn should be OK.
We dont have a fixed number of turns to play. it should be something between 10 and 20 turns. in the beginning it can be more.

If we might agree on the wb opening with max production, a good endpoint for the first turn would be when the first wb is finished, so we can plan our second building project. or maybe a checkpoint in the middle of the first turnset, because hitting enter for some 2o turns is not really a great job... ...hitting enter for some 2o turns, then moving a wb 1 tile, the hitting enter 2o turns more, that´s a REAL job![]()
