Sid Meier's Civilization 5 wurde heute - völlig überraschend - von Firaxis und 2k Games angekündigt. Das Strategiespiel soll bereits im Herbst 2010 erscheinen. Besondere Neuerungen seien eine überarbeitete Grafik sowie ein intuitives Interface. Sie dürfen aus einer von 18 historischen Zivilisationen wählen und sie von der Steinzeit bis hin zum sogenannten Space Age führen. Hinzu kommt das typische Diplomatiesystem, das auf den verschiedenen Beziehungen zu den einzelnen Herrschern basiert. Garniert wird das Spiel mit einem Multiplayer-Modus, der sowohl über Internet als auch über LAN spielbar ist. Auch der Hotseat-Modus ist mit an Bord. Ferner kündigte 2k Games schon jetzt an, dass Civilization 5 überaus Mod-freundlich werden soll.
