If nobody wants to take over from John Petroski and this game is over then I would like to declare Brazil the winner!
1. Brazil: 71
2. NATO: 48
3. India: 44
4. China: 41
5. WARPAC: 32
Surely we can find someone to take over the mighty Soviet Union and put things back in order!?!

Good job McM.
Gapetit (I think) converted this scenario to ToT, and added a few units.
I wonder if there is interest in getting a new game going?
I'm up for it, I'd like to see the Cold war turn Warm for once.

I like this scenario very much, but this is the third one I have played and every one has sputtered out in the same way before anything interesting really happens, usually due to a key player (NATO or USSR) leaving and nobody else being willing to take over from them. I would be a bit reluctant about putting in so much effort again unless I was very sure none of the players was likely to vanish!

Barcelona 5-Real Madrid 0
I feel the same like McMonkey; I invested so much time at each NATO turn (sometimes one turn about 2 hours!) for nothing at the end In my case I was preparing a full scale invasion of Russia and satellites; I had already about 600 units

It's kind of hard to know who will be around for the whole thing, but if we do try this one more time, I'd consider taking one of the super powers instead of China.

I wouldn't mind playing as China if you take one of the superpowers.

In either case, we might want to lighten up the restrictions on attacking the neutrals and pro civs, might make the game more eventful and increase the chances of a hot war.

I took a look at the ToT version, there are a few new units, though the civpedia seems to have some trouble registering them.
The main concern is that since it's ToT, we wouldn't be able to use civdip utility, so we would have to have to make some major changes in how we treat the pro civ.
Of course there's also the fact that we would need five players with ToT.
Either way, if we do get a new game started, and hopefully without any dropped players, I wouldn't mind taking the USSR if no one else wants them.

Hm, losing CivDip would not be worth those few extra units.
In some other game I proposed that Nukes should not be allowed inside cities.
I think it makes little sense to have them there - it would, in reality, only serve to make absolutely sure the cities would be attacked.

Are you sure CivDip doesn't work with ToT?

Well, Dario's civ2 pbem fixer, the one that you fix back between war and peace between the civs.
Edit: Like I mentioned we could go with the ToT version, but we would have to rethink how the AI cities are to be treated.

The Pro and Neutral factions donðt actually have much in the way of attaking units, so it does not matter much if players are at war with them for the game. I don't think they have any ships or aircraft, certainly no nukes.
I´m happy with any nation, but it's clear I can't take NATO over.

If we are going with the ToT version, we still need to get a hold of five reliable ToT players.
Should I start a new thread and see if there's any interest?
