    Hi KJ,

    do you also have buttons (for Worldbuilder) ?

    By the way, I think I will use two Bonus-Ressources for Medical Herbs.

    One for colder areas (Thundra, Grasland). -> Either the "Red Herbs" or Flax. (Will decide tomorrow)
    Another one for warmer areas (Light Green Savanna, Jungle, Prairie). -> Flowers

    Medical Herbs will become more or less strategic when I implement my Feature "Injuries and Diseases".
    They must be spread / accesible all over the map.

    However plants in warmer regions simply look very different than plants in colder regions.

    Maybe I will spawn these two Bonus-Ressources by Feature instead :
    (Yes, I think that is better. Medical Herbs should be connected to some kind of Forest.)

    Jungle, Light Forest -> Flowers
    Forest -> "Red Herbs"

    Hey guys,
    i have some troubles to add new resources. I'm not sure what causes my problems, maybe you can help me.
    The new yields show up fine in the game, except the icons(font). I have edited the gamefont.tga and all the goods in the first two lines are displayed correctly. But all following icons are false. The game uses the icon exactly one line below instead.



    For example, in place of the blue cross the game uses the horse below. Or instead of the strength symbol the icon with the red arrow is shown.

    If i use the original TAC gamefont files, i have the exact same error (except the first two lines of course). So i think the file isn't broken, but why the game uses the wrong icons? Any ideas?

    Yes, probably mistakes with Marker Pixel.
    (Especially take care of Alpha Channel.)

    Also I would not take the Gamefonts from TAC when adding more Icons to the first line, than there is space (intended).
    But maybe this might work.

    Another very important remark:
    Be very careful if you add Yields after "Education".
    This is very very dangerous ! -> High risk of CTDs in Game.

    Getting Gamefonts to work properly may be a lot of work.
    You might just have to experiment a couple of times and simply shift lines.

    That was my first thought too. But then why i get the same error with the original gamefont file? And i have done the file twice with the same result. I think a maker mistake isn't the reason.

    I have tried that too. Actually that even works. But i think this isn't a good solution because it don't fix the error.

    Are the Specialbuilding-Icons still desplayed properly in Game ?
    (Second line in Gamefonts -> Take a look at Advisor Screen)

    If this is the case, then you know that first line is correct and can go searching the error in lines below.

    Hi melcher kürzer!

    As you know, of course, the first line of GameFonts icons is for YIELDS. All yields icons in GameFonts should be strictly located in the same order as the YIELDS in the CIV4YieldInfos.xml file. Maximum number of icons in this line is 25. If the number of icons is more 25, than the problems start to grow as a snow ball. You have 26 icons, thus this is your case....

    You wrote that

    Great! Let's continue.

    The second line of Gamefonts is for icons of SpecialBuildings. You can find the <FontButtonIndex> in the CIV4SpecialBuildingInfos.xml file.

    OK, but how about two new icons you added (one between Trade_good and Hammer and looks as "DIAMOND", and the last one as "CULTURE")? Are you sure that these SpecialBuildings have also the correct icons?

    Probably, Kailric in this tread is more correct, when he asked to add a lot of SpecialBuildings icons in the second line. I very recommend you to follow our (Kailric and me) discussion concerning the GameFonts in this tread.

    Now concerning your main problem.

    in place of the blue cross the game uses the horse below. Or instead of the strength symbol the icon with the red arrow is shown.
    I guess this is a result of your 26th icon in the first line.

    Now the game read the cross ("the blue cross") but with the error in a line number. As result you see a Horse icon located EXACTLY one line below. The similar situation with "the strength symbol" where you see "the icon with the red arrow", that is also one line below.

    To fix I propose you to shift all icons one line down as it shown on the screen. This is very fast to do. Please, report the result.

    You can also upload your GameFonts and I will do it for you.

    I had to experiment almost a whole day and made lots of small corrections (especially alpha channel) and suddenly everything was correct again.

    Fankman had also tried several times without success.

    We still do not know what had corrected the problem in my tries.
    (Problem was gone and everybody was happy.)

    Argh, okay the second line is broken too. I think to start completely from scratch is the best solution. Maybe i should use KJ_Jansson long gamefont as base.
    Just one question. Does it matter how many empty fields in the first two lines are? Should i remove them or is it fine to leave them empty?

    Did you put in Special-Buildings in City and then take a look at Advisor-Screens.

    The "Long Gamefonts" are from Kailic as far as I know.
    But they are probably the better way to go if you add many more Yields.

    To my experience the empty fields themselves make no difference.
    But I have deleted them in my latest version of the Gamefonts too.

    It's very pity that I was absent in this moment. Gamefonts are really very tricky and would be extremely interesting to catch the moment when the Gamefonts was broken/fixed. Probably to compare both files in some HEX editors and to catch the difference.

    No, and i'm a bit confused right now. I didn't change anything with SpecialBuildings.

    Thx for the offering. But first i will rework the whole thing from scratch.
    I think it's the best. If i still get problems i would appreciate your help.

    See my comment above. No i didn't put any Special-Buildings in the city. I don't use these screens anyway and don't know how it should look like.

    Yes, I know, but I mean the moment when your GameFonts are broken and then suddenly are OK without visible changes in both color and alpha channels.

    Unfortunately, at the moment there is only a graphical possibility to fix the problems. All data related to GameFonts are inside Colonization.exe but not CvGameCoreDLL.dll or the source codes. Thus, I see no possibility to fix the errors through source code's changes.
