Maybe try a batch file, I have used it to run MOO2.
Create a text file via notepad write:

TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe"
cd C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2
start /w C:\"Program Files"\Microprose\Orion2\Orion95.exe
start C:\Windows\explorer.exe

The batch file must have the same name as your Civ2 executable, with .bat at the end.

Change the relevant strings, and it might work.
Maybe trying Dosbox would be a better idea, i don't know if that works either though.

I am not sure I understand what you mean Ingvar. The problem is not playing Civ2, it is using CivCity.exe and opening multi-player games in single player and vice-versa.

Are you using Windows 7? If spo what do you think of it? Is it a lot better than XP?

I play Civ2 under Win 7, i have not Problems

Readme (only in german) -> !(Civ 2 zu Civ 2 Gold)!

MOO2 have only a grafic problem, in Dosbox can play very good. Dos-exe (.bat) is of the CD^^

I do not find Windows 7 to be better than XP in any way, it only has some superficial improvements at the cost of higher resource usage.

I am really sorry about holding up this excellent game. I have decided that in the interest of getting this game going again for everyone else, I would be willing to let another player take over the Soviets.

The first turn will take some sorting out as me and Cobra were going to swap ownership of some cities and units in the Balkans, but after that it should be plain sailing.

I guess that is up to the remaining players but that would change the whole game as they are the two largest powers. I would rather hand over my nation to a new player that would continue my policies. But I suppose if the other players don't mind you taking them then that is fine.

DosBox 0.74 kann man auf 64-bit Vista und Win7 installieren und dann spielt es beim Spiel keine Rolle^^ weil man ja alles Mounted

I have done some work on an updated version. If anyone has any ideas on what could be changed or improved please post them here. I will try and finish it in the not too distant future.

Is this game dead now? To be honest the Allies seem to have beaten Germany but I am happy to play on until the bitter end.
