Seize the Crown PBEM

I am looking for four (possibly five) players with the spare time to try out John Ellis' classic 'Seize the Crown' as a PBEM.

I am not sure if this has been tried before or what its suitability is, but looking at it it would seem perfect for a four/five player game (depending if Scotland is playable!).

I spend several hours yesterday modifying the graphics and have a little bit of work left to do but by the time we have enough players ready I will be finished.

I will upload the modified graphics as soon as they are finished. I have included a screenshot to give an impression of what it will look like. Reading the players notes will be essential as this is quite an involved scenario!

THE FACTIONS:

Neville Family - McMonkey (Hastings is my home town. I have to play them!)
Bigod Family - Karlheinz
de Bohum Family - Cobra
Plantagenet Family - Civilionaut
de Lacy Family -
*Scottish - AI (Possibly playable if someone really wants them?)
*de Blois Family - AI (Huge kingdom which we are all trying to overthrow ad replace!)
*Independents - Barbarians (Lots of events!)

The four playable families start roughly equal and will need to use a combination of trading, development and military force to overthrow the King (de Blois family) and become the lord of the realm!

Cool Should be an interesting game. I guess most people are familiar with it?
I have not played before but the notes would lead me to believe it is a finely crafted piece of work.

Here is a very rough guide to the families:

- The Neville (White) Family's main cities:
Newcastle, Durham, Hull, Hastings and Dartmouth.

- The Bigod (Blue) family's main cities:
Norwich, Barnstaple, Bath, Sailsbury and St. Ives.

- The de Lacy (Orange) family's main cities:
Lincoln, Nottingham, Tamworth, Boston and Christchurch.

- The de Bohun (Yellow) family's main cities:
Hereford, Monmouth, Ledbury, Maldon and Honfleur.

- The Plantagenet (Red) family's main cities:
Bristol, Cherbourg, Evreux, Yeovil and Glastonbury.

- Main Scottish cities:
Carlisle, Dumfries and Douglas on the Isle of Man.

- Main Independent cities:
Le Havre, Reading, Chichester, Southampton, Ryde on the Isle of Wight, Glousester, Taunton, Chepstow, Cardiff, Camarthen, Chester, Shrewsbury, Warrington, Warwick, Northampton, Buckingham, Cambridge and Colchester.

- de Blois (Green) family's main cities:
London, Rouen, Lancaster, Winchester, York, Lisieux, St. Albans, Leicester, Exeter, Tunbridge, Rochester, Canterbury, Dover, Caen, Bayeux, Plymton, Oxford, Worcester and Derby.

I have been taking a look at the game in some more detail and have come to the conclusion that the five families are the only ones that should be played.

So far we have the Neville's (McMonkey), the Plantagenets (Civilionaut) and the de Bohun (Cobra).

Academia, would you accept either the Bigod or de Lacy family instead?

The reason I say this is that the five families all start off fairly balanced. The Scottish, de Blois and Independents ar all intended to add colour to the game but could unbalance it if played!

The players notes are well worth printing out and reading through. You may need to make some notes as John Ellis has really made an involved scenario!

well, the point is that i played some turns with the scots and it was fun! i´d like to use them in a pbem. they are playable.
anyway, if you cant find enough players for the other families, i´ll switch civs.

I can see that the Scottish are playable but I think they would unbalance the scenario too much if played by an intelligent human player. I think they are best left to the AI where they will be a threat but not all conquering!

If you could take the de Lacy family that would be amazing. Everyone would start roughly equal and with the same objective of seizing the crown!

The de Lacy family starts with a strong power-base centered around Lincoln and Nottingham. I hope you will play a then!
