Additional House Rules:
-No alliance between France and Britain.
-Do not destroy Stackable.
-Do not sell building "Non-Combatants" and you have to rebuild non- combatans immediately after you conquered a city.
-No exchange / donation / purchase etc of cities / technologies / units.
-No sneak attacks. One turn peace after declaration of war.
-Trade embargo is allowed (Kontinentalsperre).
-You cannot build a new palace while you already have one.
-No founding of new cities, only reconstruction of existing ones that have been razed (though with "Non-Combatants" this will be hard!)
-Fortresses can be exchanged between nations (exception to rule as they are imovable!)

are there any differences?

one more comment... i know nothing about german, so can someone translate civilonaut post? i mean, he is playing britain... so, i´d like to know if he´s claiming lands, announcing alliances or something like that.
or well... can you guys give me a good link of a website that translates german?

Someone else can probably answer your question on .hot/.net better than I can. I just know that I have used both and prefer .hot as it is easier to load the game in! There are some important differences about engineer speed etc... which I will let someone more knowledgeable answer.

-> You do NOT have to press CTRL-N, but you may do so if you like.
-> You have to - at the end of your turn - center the map on a far away square (in your case in Russia or deep in the Atlantic) because the player after you will load your turn and would get informations of your country if you centered there at the end of your turn.

3. In .net there can be problems especially production problems if F11 is pressed or a city is captured which do not occur in .hot. In .hot workers work not as fast as in .net.

I think these are the main differences.
